Prenatal Classes

Because we at Piedmont OB-GYN are partnered with the Greenville Health System, we are able to provide an extensive list of prenatal classes sponsored by Greenville Health System Women’s Hospital. Please register by your fifth month for greatest selection of class dates and times. Classes should be completed four to six weeks before your due date. Pre-registration is required. Prepared Childbirth Classes

Call for dates and times- $70 per family

Taught by obstetric nurses, this class helps expectant parents understand the entire birth process, including coping with third trimester discomforts, how to know when you are in labor, stages of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, other options for pain relief and how to care for yourself postpartum. The class is offered in a four week series or an all-day retreat.

Getting Ready for Baby

Third Tuesday monthly 7-9pm- $20 per family

Learn what to do when your new baby comes home from the hospital. This class covers what to expect during the first few days of baby’s life, how to prepare your home and your routine for a new baby and the basics of baby care (bathing, feeding, and changing).

Prepared Childbirth Refresher

Call for information- $35 per family

This DVD series is for expectant parents who have taken Prepared Childbirth within the past two years. It can be completed in your own home on your own schedule.

Multiples Classes

This four class series starts the first Tuesday of Janurary, March, May, July, September and November. 6:30-8:30 pm- $70 per family

The Prepared Childbirth Series is designed for couples expecting twins or more.

Breastfeeding Class

First Tuesday, Second Monday monthly 7- 9 pm.- $20 per family

Taught by a certified lactation consultant, this class prepares couples for the breastfeeding experience and offers practical solutions for common breastfeeding problems.

Breastfeeding Support

First Thursday monthly 1-3 p.m. St. Michael Lutheran Church (2617 Augusta Street)- Free

Share experiences with other moms and learn about breastfeeding in the real world.

Back to Work for the Nursing Mom

First Thursday monthly 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. St. Michael Lutheran Church (2617 Augusta Street) Free

Returning to work while continuing to breastfeed your baby is possible! This class offers practical suggestions to help planning your transition back to work.

C- Section Class

Second and Fourth Thursdays 6:30-7:30 p.m.- Free

This class is specifically designed for women who are scheduled for a C-section. The class covers information on pre-operative instructions, what takes places during a C-section and recovery.

Just for Dads

Second Tuesday bimonthly 7-8:30 p.m.- $20 per dad

This class helps Dad understand what is happening to Mom during pregnancy and how he can support her during labor and delivery.

Siblings Class

First and third Thursdays monthly 6:30-8 p.m.- $20 per family

This class prepares children ages 3-8 for the birth of your baby.

OB Tour

Call for dates and times- Free

Join us for a walking tour of Labor and Delivery, the Mother/Baby Unit and Newborn Nursery. Learn what to bring to the hospital and what to expect during your hospital stay.

Infant CPR

Call for dates and times- $30 per person

Taught by a certified CPR instructor, this class uses American Heart Association Guidelines to teach you how to reduce hazards in your child’s environment and trains you to perform CPR on an infant. Women in their third trimester should not take this class.
